Well with SDMI being halfway through it's final season (As far as we know) we might as well discuss what we'd like to see for the next series.
I would personally like to see the art style of the recent DTV movies used for the next series. As much as I like the SDMI style I've kind of gotten bored with it.
The show itself I think would benefit from using the hour long format of the NSDM. I just think the mysteries end up being better paced. Plus I would like to see the return of the weekly guest star, for no other reason than it's fun.
And ultimately I would like to see the return of the musical chase scenes. If I had to fault one part of the SDMI format it's that we don't have that (I would also fault the over the top traps). I just think the music added to the overall feel of Scooby Doo and I miss it.

I fear the next series is gonna be all CGI. I don't mind CG animation mind you, but I don't know if it's right for Scooby. I agree with you on the musical chase scenes. I miss those.

I'm not sure I like the idea of CGI. I find most CGI shows currently are just lazy and ugly looking. That new Batman show that's premiering soon has some of the ugliest character designs I've seen in a while.
However I think a CGI Scooby Doo could actually work. Based on the way they're portrayed in video games I think their character designs translate pretty well for the medium. And Night of 100 Frights actually was a very good looking game.

I'd like to see an hour long SD:MI. Or any hour long show, but I'm not to sure about weekly guest stars. That gets a little tiresome after awhile but on a semiregular basis I'd like it.
Hour long would improve the pacing with as much as they try to cram in these days. From What's New on it has moved at a break neck pace because it seems as if they were told to never have a second of dead air. It would be nice to let them breath a little.
I would also like to see a return of the chases, I really miss the hallway gag.
I don't want a CG show, while the 3-D models do look good, I'd be too afraid they wouldn't go back to 2-D.

If it was one hour I would want it to be live action. Of course then it would have the same problems that Curse of the Lake Monster did. Hour long Scooby has always been hit or miss for me.

I'd be interested to see what todays writers could do in an hour long format. Look at Phantosaur, they could have cut that down to an hour and it would have been a better movie for it.
Just curious, what do you mean a live action show would suffer from the same problems as CotLM? Don't get me wrong, that movie had MAJOR problems but I'm not sure what you're refering to.

Well, for one thing, Scooby wasn't in CoTLM much. A potiental live action show would have the same problem where they wouldn't have the budget for a CG Scooby in every episode.

Budget really wasn't what caused the problems. The big thing was that they just rushed the entire thing. Plenty of shows in the Scooby Doo age bracket can afford CGI for every episode (Code Lyoko Evolution, Level Up). But if you rush everything than budget won't matter.
COTLM had a sloppy and unoriginal story (Velma being a villain and a witches ghost, now where have I seen those two plots before?). Even without factoring in Scooby missing for most of the movie it was still a let down. The fact is those writers always feel the need to make it real monsters with gigantic consequences (Everybody wants to take over the world, whatever happened to villains just trying to commit fraud or get property cheaply). Instead of it being a good mystery they end it with magic being the obvious answer, which is fun some of the time, but four movies in I can officially say I'm tired of real monsters.
However a Live Action series could work. Budget wise they could make it work (Adding in digital characters is pretty easy anymore and if they had to they could always get a real great Dane and just CGI the head. So long as they stayed true to the Where are you formula and put real thought into their mysteries than they could make a good show.
