I already posted this on another thread: scoobyaddicts.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1472&page=1
This thread is inspired by three things:
1. there is a real life Metropolis in Illinois that DC and the Illinois State Legislature declared the hometown of Superman. which holds a Superman celebration every year which includes is Superman museum, Actors who play Clark and Lois, cast and crew who worked with Superman over the year.
2. www.examiner.com/article/fans-a-k....city-smallville
article.wn.com/view/2012/09/07/Fa....ity_Smallville/
io9.com/5941642/kansas-comic-book....amed-smallville
3. well Coolsville has been the official town since Pup named Scooby-Doo until Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated with the city name change, a few fans as well as Mystery Begins and Curse of the Lake has described Coolsville being in Ohio and luck would there is something close to a real life Coolsville, Ohio: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coolville,_Ohio
Like the above Articles said there has been a few petitions in trying to make the town the official town of a famous cartoon/comic character and I figure why not try to make Coolville, Ohio the official town of Scooby-Doo? and maybe on the week of September 13(when the first episode of Scooby-Doo premiered) we could hold a whole Scooby-Doo week celebration and we could do stuff:
-Maybe there could be a Museum dedicated to Scooby-Doo and the monsters from Black Knight Ghost to the Creeper to the gator beasts (similar to Monsters Unleashed and Mystery Incorporated) with info like their first appearances, who the monster was and their stories and how many appearances they made and what shows or movies they appeared in. (like Miner 49er was Hank and first appeared in Scooby-Doo:Where Are You? and appeared in Scooby-Doo 2:Monsters Unleashed, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated) . Also for the museum why not have a statue in the front of the Museum or a room with a statues of both live action Mystery Inc gang looking for something and "mirrors" with their cartoon counterparts imitating their actions. What do you think?
-bring the various cast and crew who worked with Scooby-Doo, both animated and live action and even stage musicals to Coolville where they can do things like take pictures, awnser questions, talk about their favorite memory dealing/working with Scooby, etc . No matter what qualms anyone had with any of the cast they tried to respect the original gang and bring unique aspects in order to leave their mark on the gang and bring new perspective to the gang (Frank Welker is the iconic fred, Carl Stevens made Fred looser in personality, Freddie Prince Jr. is the first live action fred, Robbie is the brunette Fred and brought the Fred's jock aspects to life, etc).
-Maybe have a sign similar to the Crystal Cove "Coolville: Most Hauntedest Place on Earth" or "A Cool Place to Live" like Mystery Begins or even "Home of Scooby-Doo and Mystery Inc."
-maybe create things from various Scooby hometowns like the Crab Shack in SDMI or the Malt Shop from the original Scooby cartoons, Mystery Inc. Clubhouse,Fruitmeir's, Hex Girl tour bus, etc and memorabilia from the previous cases
-contests like :
- Town Mystery Incorporated : Maybe do something like what Metropolis did with hiring Clark Kent and Lois actors and have 4 or 5 kids(between 12-18 maybe) dress up as Fred, Daphne, Shaggy or Velma(classic, What's new, Pup named, live action movies, 1999-2000 cartoon movies, fan ideas on what the gang clothes would like in the 21st century, etc) and maybe have someone dress up like Scooby(or choose a real Great Dane) to be the town Scooby or something. Where kids can dress up as their favorite member and talk about what they like about the Mystery Inc gang and people can vote for who should be the Mystery Incorporated gang for that year so people can choose a new Mystery Inc. each year so anyone can be Mystery Inc. member. They can do a news report, be a town tour guide for tourists , or do a mystery with the kids and drive a Mystery Machine the fans chose or something similar to this concept.
-Best Mystery Machine: where people can make their own Mystery Machine and vote for what there favorite Mystery Machine recreation attempt, etc and maybe bring out the both the 2002/2004 live action Mystery Machine as well as the tv movies and other live action Mystery Machine throughout the age where people can take pictures with it or something. Maybe have the Mystery Inc Teenagers drive around in the Mystery Machine
- Make your own Mystery : how about contest where the kids and/or adults can make up a mystery for the kids and the Mystery Inc Teens Solve it. Have some random citizens come up with alibis and also have some random citizen be the culprit and do the line "and I would have gotten away with it..."
- Fan work : best fan fiction, poems, raps, songs or fan art where you can talk about your favorite scooby moments
- Costume Contest : where you can dress up like either your favorite member, monster, etc
- Scooby Clues : maybe have a easter egg like hunt where the kids can look for scooby-doo related items(Fred's ascot, Daphne's headband or scarf, Shaggy's green or red shirt, Velma's glasses, Scooby's dog collar, Mystery Skateboard from Pup Named Scooby-Doo, etc) or even connect the easter egg hunt to the week long mystery the Mystery Inc kids and everyone would be able to solve by having clues that leads to the villian.
- Shaggy and Scooby's Cooking Contest : Maybe have a cooking contest where people can bake their wackiest and most creative ideas for food and everyone can eat it .
- Fred's Build A Trap Workshop A mix of a science project, woodshop class and the Build a Bear workout here can come up with weird and crazy but safe traps that could be for any reason
- Daphne's Fashion Design shop where people can create clothes to wear that they designed and/or have a place where people can make clothes for Mystery Inc and the monsters to wear
- Velma's simulation room is a room full of books, laptops and Scooby-Doo video games and stuff like that.
- Karoke contest : where you can sing your favorite Scooby theme or song from any era or just any song you want.
what are your ideas on this. If you could do a Scooby-Doo week celebration what would you do, what city would you think would be the perfect idea of Scooby-Doo's hometown, etc?
