****TV & COMIC SPOILERS AHEAD****
Before I get into the nitty gritty of the episode I have to say something about Shane-O. Other then the fact that Jon Bernthal has been cast in Frank Darabont's new pilot/series, with each passing episode I can feel that TV Shane is going to meet the same fate as Comic Shane. In the Comics Shane met his end at the hands of Carl. Rick and Shane were arguing, Shane pulled a gun on Rick, Carl shot Shane.
I wonder if they'll go that route on the show or just have Rick do it because of Lori, more on that later.
Now on to the episode.
We start out pretty much where we left off last week, Rick has just killed 2 dudes who almost killed him and his mini group of Herschel and Glenn. Turns out those 2 had friends...and they heard gun shots! They start to come into the bar when, stupidly, Glenn, if I remember correctly, slams into the door to stop them from entering. They then realize somebody must be inside, and trying to defuse the situation, Rick engages them in conversation. He tells them that he had no choice but to shoot their buddies because it was kill or be killed, and as you can imagine, that doesn't go over very well. A shootout ensues and walkers appear because of the noise.
Glenn heads to the alley, I think to get the car, and when bullets fly back there he freezes, because of Maggie(Herschel's crazy) telling him she loves him as we learn later, and he has to wait for Herschel and Rick to save his hindquarters.
When they head out back they end up killing/wounding one of their attackers and saving Glenn while another attacker across the street(played by the same actor, whose name escapes me, that played Sheila's son on the FX hit show Rescue Me) trys to escape some zombies and ends up impailing himself on a fence.
Instead of putting on in the punks head and leaving him, Rick being Mr.Supercop, Rick decides they must save him and take him back to the farm, the same farm he killed the dudes over last week.
Meanwhile back at said farm, the group realizes Lori is missing and Shane goes to find her.
Lori wakes up to a walker trying to nibble on her flesh and kills it with hunk of car off the steering column and makes her way out of the car to find another walker that she wacks with a hub cap. She then shoots that same creature, or another, again bad memory.
Shane finds Lori a little while after and convinces her that Rick has returned to the farm just so she will go back. While you can understand why he did it, to an extent(he loves her and wants to protect her), but in the zombie-apocalypse that is not a lie you want to tell.
Back at camp Carol and Daryl, cute how their names rhyme
,have a bit of a fight, though it's very Daryl one sided. He is angry at how she's handling what happened to Sophia, and she let's him vent. It almost looks like she is waiting for him to do what her dead husband Ed would have done and just beat the crap out of her cause he's mad, but thankfully he doesn't.
So he gets her back to the farm, where she notices Rick ain't dare, and she's obviously not happy but what can she do? Inside Shane blurts out that Lori is pregers, though I'm guessing not for much longer, and Carl says if it's a girl she should name it Sophia, gotta love that kid. Shane asks to Talk to Lori alone and she confronts him about all of his lies. Which I will give to her, yes, he has lied a lot, but almost every lie he has told her was for good reason. She brings up him lying about being dead in the pilot, which he did to protect her and he figured Rick was pretty much dead, and this new lie. Then she asks about Dales theory about Otis and tells him he hasn't been the same since that went down. She then tells him she told Rick about them, Shane don't like that and insists what they had was real.
The Next day Rick, Glenn, and Herschel return with their would be killer in tow, which the group notices and Rick tells them that they will nurse him back to help then get him off the farm.
Glenn tells Mag's that he froze because of her and pushes her away when she's touched by that.
Herschel checks on his catatonic step-daughter, Maggie gets angry about his drinking. Herschel did put his foot down inregards to Shanes behavior which lead to Andrea having a talk with Shane, she tells him she thinks he is right most of the time but he needs to work on his delivery and quit being so heavy fisted about what he thinks is right.
And finally we see Lori and Rick have a conversation....in which we see just how manipulative Lori can be. She spills everything about Shane and his craziness and that Shane says Rick can't protect her and the baby.
Once again WOW!!!!! What an ep! It's getting harder and harder to keep up for reviewing purposes, but that's a good thing...I think.
The show is spinning so many plates and one can't help but wait for them all to come crashing down around each and everyone of the members of this group.
After Carols talk with him, Daryl is starting to warm up again. His vision brother will be mad. Nice to see Herschel grow a set and tell Shane to essentially put up or shut up. I feel that Rick still feeling the need to be the cop is going to come back to bite him on the butt sooner rather then later, after all at least one of the philly dudes friends got away.
I didn't get to see much of talking dead but I did see that Steven Yeun AKA Glenn was one of the guests.
As usual, I can't wait till the next episode!
