... That's good news that they're finally giving us reasonable volumes, but now this means I have to hunt down the three other volumes to have the complete season. I hate to do it but now I'll have to buy into it. I hate that now I'm going to have to add four new DVD cases to my collection, they could at least have had the decency to give us slim casing since 4 DVD's combined will take up the space of two seasons of any other show.
Perhaps declined sales prompted this change.

Yeah but it also makes those of us that bought the 3 volumes not feel as bad for buying them when we did. I know I felt like a maroon for buying them (still kinda do) but at least I got to see the eps when ever I wanted.
Strangely, I'd suggest if you have a sam's club or costco near you to get them there. You can find them for under $10 each. Or they might bundle them soon.

I'll definitely buy the season 1 part 2 (Some of my favorite episodes are in that half of the season anyway), but I guess I'll wait on the other volumes, if in six months there's no talk of a part 1 set I'll buy the volumes off eBay (I've seen those volumes go for like $2 a piece on there). I guess I'd rather wait and see rather than immediately jumping in, after all WB likes to make money so they might give us a part 1 set eventually and if not there's the volumes.
All in all I'm just happy they are doing half season releases, after all I'm pretty sure most shows are doing it that way now and it seems to work well for them.

Definitely the second half is better then the first half.
I bet there won't be a bonus feature in sight though.

If they do give us any bonus features it will probably end up being a recycled episode of get a clue, that seems to be their habit either an episode of a show nobody wants to see or a 5 minute video about something Scooby related that uses recycled clips and mediocre interviews.
Who knows maybe they'll surprise us and give us a feature actually worth having. I mean it would have to happen eventually.

An episode of get a clue isn't a bonus feature (creepy voice) it's a curse from the beast we call the desolate one...
What would be the ideal bonus feature for you?
For me it would be a half hour interview with cast and crew, talking about how they fell about the new direction. I'd love to know what frank thinks.

For me the ideal bonus feature would include interviews, deleted scenes and maybe even commentary on key episodes.
I feel with Scooby Doo we really don't get an inside look on what they do. I mean this current show had a lot of firsts for Scooby, it shifted from comedy to drama and introduced a lot of scary elements which in previous series' were downplayed. It would be interesting to have features that give us some insight on how the writers and producers came about making these changes, maybe interviews about the challenges they faced creating a more dark and violent incarnation of Scooby.
Plus some behind the scenes knowledge on the making of the show would be nice. After all this is the first HD Scooby Doo and thus the process for making it is different from the past. Overall it would be nice if we could get some bonus features that give us a bit more insight into the making of the series.

Ooooooo yeah, cast and crew commentaries on a few eps would be good.
I wonder how many deleted scenes there are with a show like this? It would be cool to maybe get a few extended episodes with a few scenes cut back in, if they were good enough that is. Time constraints on tv make me think some good stuff was cut out just to keep it on time, I've seen it happen with many other shows.

Honestly, the only Scooby title I feel has gotten great special features was the first live action movie.

That is 100% true! The cast commentary alone was a great feature. But it had good deleted scenes, behind the scenes, a music video, and it even had an easter egg.
Most everything else has been some kiddie garbage showing how to do some lame magic trick or something along those lines.
But based on the newest Batman shows dvd's, we'll be left wanting.

here's the cover art.

The cover looks nice, other than everyone is off-model, but that's probably the result of them outsourcing the cover art rather than the animators themselves doing it.
It's also interesting that it says 'Crystal Cove Curse.'
I definitely think we'll get a volume 1 if this one sells well.

Yeah, like I sorta said on the site, Scooby looks the worst. I always hate it when they have his body going in one direction and his head pointed in another, always looks strange.
I find that interesting as well, especially since it does have "season 1, part 2" on the spine.
That's a very strong possibility! ;D
