I've been thinking recently about a Smallville game set during the first 4 seasons, so it would be set just in smallville and not metropolis.
An open world(I'm kind of obsessed with open world/sandbox style games) game set in the town. You could interact with characters from those seasons such as crazy kyle, tina greer, the willowbrooks, bug boy, and some of the other freak of the week characters.
Locations: the kent farm(obviously), the high school, the luthor mansion, and main street(meaning the talon and the fordman's store).
You control clark as he runs around town maybe reliving some of the episodes, and forging new stories with those characters. Try to get all of the original actors back to voice their roles.
Thoughts?

Well, I think we need a Superman game that's actually good first, because pretty much all Superman games have sucked{Superman 64, ewww}.

Well the superman returns game was the right idea just poorly executed. If they could do that again just not as clunky it could be amazing.

Yeah, had Superman Returns been a bit more polished it would have been at least decent.

Absolutely! If I'm remembering right, if a crime popped up you had to take care of it. If you just wanted to fly around for fun you were out of luck. But it showed glimmers of hope then they were crushed by crappy controls.

The controls were unbearable in that game. But hey, you could play as Bizarro.

Why did you have to bring those 2 games up? They make me sad...I want 'em!
Back on topic though, what about a superman game like that one just using the smallville cast and continuity?

A Smallville game would be nice, but it would be hard to do an open world. After all everyone lives so far apart and there would be a lot of space occupied by fields and forests... So it would kind of be wasted space.

So it would kind of be wasted space. The game you described is GTA: san andreas. It had areas on the map that were fields or trees and nothing but a little shack in between. Red Dead Redemption was sort of the same way. If they could do it something like those it would definitely work, and if you want to include Metropolis maybe have a some sort of portal button system so you can easily get from there from Smallville.

Well the problem is that this is Smallville... You have a town that is what? a few blocks of actual city surrounded by acres of corn and forests. I mean that much empty space would be a waste and you'd feel like killing yourself having to run back and forth all the time for objectives. I mean with other games they at least gave you random objectives that popped up near you so you'd have something to do (Like Spider-man constantly be called upon for petty crimes and lost balloons (Geesh! you'd think those stupid parents would just tie the string around their wrist, but no, instead Spider-man has to give up chasing the armed robber so Timmy can get his balloon back)) but what exactly would the objective be in a gigantic field? Ultimately it would a waste of space, even in the show most of the events happened in the city or at a house, not much went down in those fields.

My balloon! I lost my balloon! Unless they added Metropolis as a part of the game{which I would rather just see a Superman game then}, it would have to be a Arkham Asylum type game. But what would you really do other than run through corn fields and fight the random meteor freak? I think I would prefer it to be a downloadable game rather than a full on retail game. I think that would make more sense,

Gaaa, I hated those stupid balloons! Hehhehe, give me some more time and I'll be able to think that through a little more. It doesn't need to be super huge though. Put the kent farm, lana's (grrrr) house then a little bit of corn, the luthor mansion, then the town. Then you could throw in metropolis. I'll be honest with ya both, the reason I started this thread is because I wanted to fantasize about a game because I miss the show. I didn't really expect to have to put this much thought into my fantasy though. LOL. But its good (smacks head) keeps the mind goin'!
