Which companies characters do you prefer and why?

Though I'm a fan of both I've always been more of a Marvel fan. Their characters have always been more likable and easier to relate to.
Marvel always seems to try hard to humanize their larger then life figures.
While most of DC characters are unreachable archetypes, most of Marvel's are humans put in extraordinary circumstances.
