I have sat quietly by for the almost 3 years since this movie came out and have heard the people who liked it, ME, called all kinds of names, none that I will repeat here out of respect for SpiderScooby(Ross), just for, again, liking it. And I have to ask why? Most people say they hate it because of the scene with indy in the fridge or the scene with mutt and the monkey's. They say the whole movie was cheesy. Well let me explain something that almost everybody understood until they saw the actual movie: George lucas and Steven Spielberg said that Indy 4 would make indy older and that the movie would be set sometime in the 40's or 50's(1957). And like the first 3 movies it would reflect the movies of that time, namely the cheesy 50's sci-fi B movies. And when George and Steven said that people were super excited! "Indiana Jones in a sci-fi B movie? OH! MY! GOD!" Then they saw the movie and said "what the hell was that? That was like some stupid 50's sci-fi B movie! George Lucas is ruining my childhood(more on that in a future thread) just like he did with the star wars prequels! That movie sucked!" Now this is the question I have for people: Did you ever see a 50's sci-fi B movie? That movie hit it's target in every single possible way imaginable. It OOZED cheese, it had all of the ridiculousness that those types of movies had, and it had crappy acting at times. Now in no way am I trying to sway or change any opinions on the movie, frankly I don't care, but I do love a good and sensible discussion. So what do you think of the movie? Do you agree with me or not? Let's have a great chat.

I think one of the reasons was that they used too much CGI when they didn't need to{the same can be said about the Star Wars prequels}. There's also that stupid swinging with the monkeys scene. But other than that, I liked the movie.

I can understand the CG complaint, though I do have to ask: what were "you" expecting? George is all about technology and exploring what you can do with it. He does that because in pushing the tech he knows that it will make it cheaper and easier for others if he's already tested and broke that ground. Now I don't completely agree that everything should always be cg because practical effects look better and more real in most cases but with lucas I know what I'm signing up for.
And on the monkey's again I say that fit what they said the movie was going to be so I find that easily overlooked, but that's just me.
