Amazing Spider-man Thoughts

So I saw the movie yesterday. 8/10. It goes right above the first movie for me. ASM is better than Raimi's movies in many regards even though there were a few things that needed work.

Pros:

The Acting: the acting in this movie is so much better than in the previous movies. Andrew Garfield outshines Tobey Maguire in every way. Garfield is very likable and is closer to the Peter Parker in the comics. I liked Toney Maguire, but he got more annoying as the movies go on. Dennis Leary as Captain Stacey is great.
The Costume: I know a lot of people have issues with the new costume, but my opinion really haven't changed. It works in the movie.
The Tone: I really liked they took a more serious direction with this instead of overly campy(stupid emo dancing in SM3).
Humor: ASM has a great sense of humor. And Spidey actually cracks jokes for once.
I do like some of the little tweaks they made to the origin. And yes, they did take a more "Ultimate" route.

Cons:

The Lizard: I'm still not sojd on The Lizard's CGI. There were a few shots where I thought it looked kinda silly. But otherwise, he's a good villain.
Uncle Ben's death was much more effective in Raimi's movie.
It does tread over some of the same plot points as Raimi's.

A lot of that may not make sense(I'm tired ) but I'll post some more thoughts later. Overall:
Spider-man 2: 9.5/10
Amazing Spider-man: 8/10
Spider-man: 7.5/10
Spider-man 3: 7/10

Oh yeah, there is a after credits scene. I think it's a safe bet who the next villain will be(and it better not be the Ultimate version ;D).

I agree with you 8/10.

I really liked how they handled the origin. Don't get me wrong, I like how Raimi handled it (after all it was practically pulled straight out of Amazing Fantasy #15), but I dislike how Raimi pretty much summed it all up in the first part of his movie. I feel like ASM stretched it out over the course of the entire movie. Plus I think it was a unique decision not to have Uncle Ben's killer caught. I always thought it the comics that Peter was too obsessed with revenge when it came to this, I like how ultimately Peter sort of let it drop in favor of doing the greater good.

The only area I think it didn't wow me in was the final battle. Raimi knew how to make memorable set pieces and really climactic battles. ASM final battle was adequate but failed to really hit the mark Raimi set in his movies.

I am ever so glad they didn't make Gwen the dumb damsel in distress.

As for the ending I sort of assumed it was Norman Osbourne, but I think I'd rather save the Green Goblin for the third film (Plus the second they bring in Green Goblin they're going to be tempted to kill Gwen Stacy and after her role in the first film I'd at least like to see her in three films).
I think there's the possibility it was Electro, I mean the way he disappeared seemed to imply that to me. Either way I'm really excited for the sequel.

It bums me out how much negative criticism the movies getting though. It seems as if people can't get over the fact that they decided to redo the origin.

I agree about the final battle. It was good, but not as epic. I think I like the Goblin fight in the first movie better.

I think you could be right about Electro. I admit I've never been a huge fan of Electro, but it would be interesting to see what they did with him. I assumed it was Norman though(or someone working for him) because they kept dropping his name throughout the movie. And he has that mysterious "disease" that's gonna have to be cured at some point. I would much rather see Venom though.
